Have you heard the term before? What is a "poor man's" copyright? It is the quickest way of protecting your work. However it is not the safest way. The only way to be sure your work is protected is through official copyright means. How to do a "poor man's" copyright: Record your work Make sure it is dated Declare the work in your own hand writing. Seal the work in a envelope. Take it to the Post Office Send it to yourself Certified mail, with signature required When you receive it, sign it and never open it unless advised by a lawyer Keep it in a safe place Again, this is not safest way of protecting your work. Do it through official channels. Library of Congress stand on Official copyrights and Poor man's copyrights.
